MOC Madness 2025 Week 2 Recap
Another incredible week of MOC Madness brought a diverse mix of creativity, storytelling, and masterful building techniques from BuffaLUG members! From pop culture recreations to fantasy worlds and Buffalo landmarks, here’s a look at what we showcased:
Jeremy Killion’s Muppets MOC Series – Inspired by a design from Rebrickable, Jeremy expanded on the idea, creating a series of detailed vignettes that bring the world of The Muppet Show to life. From the Swedish Chef’s chaotic kitchen to Muppet Labs, each scene is full of character and charm.
Spot Harris’s Rat Fink – A tribute to hot rod culture, Spot recreated Ed "Big Daddy" Roth’s legendary Rat Fink in LEGO form, complete with a custom Rat Rod, pull-back wheels, and a Duplo engine.
Ryan Conroy’s NEStalgia – Honoring MAR10 Day, Ryan built a massive NES controller using greebling techniquesto create depth and texture. Designed in Stud.io and built on MILS plates, this retro-inspired piece is packed with gaming nostalgia.
Joe Diebold’s Super Hero Apartments – A work in progress, this build imagines a modular apartment complexfeaturing different Marvel heroes on each level, inspired by Into the Spider-Verse.
Jon Breidert’s Keep Buffalo A Secret Mural – A LEGO recreation of Buffalo’s famous mural, Jon greebled this together the night before BuffaLUG’s first Block Party to add a hometown touch. The texture-packed lettering brings the bold message to life.
Evan Wirth’s Imperial Outpost – Inspired by Star Wars Battlefront, this three-baseplate MOC features hinged cliffs, glowing lava, SNOT techniques, and a hand-cranked turbo laser, creating an immersive Imperial battle scene.
Eric Santiago’s Blossom Babies of the Enchanted Garden – A floral fantasy that evolved over four years, this build showcases Pokémon-style minifigure evolutions and is now on display at the Buffalo LEGO Store for a limited time!
Connor McGrath’s Wizard’s Cottage – A modular fantasy hideout sitting atop a cavern filled with hidden Easter eggs and passages, proving that magic is in the details.
From Buffalo landmarks to pop culture tributes, from retro gaming nostalgia to sci-fi battlefronts, Week 2 of MOC Madness showcased an incredible range of creativity. Whether through intricate greebling, modular storytelling, or playful character-driven scenes, each build demonstrated the unique skills and imagination of BuffaLUG’s builders. As the challenge continues, the boundaries of LEGO artistry keep expanding, proving that no idea is too ambitious to be brought to life in brick form!
